Marlfield House Hotel
Gorey Co. Wexford
Marlfield House Hotel is a unique, historic venue, in keeping with the Irish country house tradition. The house is an elegant Regency style mansion, situated 55 miles south of Dublin, near the white, sandy beaches of the South East coast, in County Wexford. The house was purchased from the Earls of Courtown in 1977, and has been beautifully restored as a 20 room, 4-star hotel. The graciously proportioned rooms are luxuriously furnished with antiques, period furniture, valuable works of art and sumptuous fabrics. All rooms are en-suite and equipped with full modern amenities. In addition, the unique meeting room at Marlfield can cater for up to 40 delegates and is equipped with a 35mm slide projector, overhead projector and screen.
Several public rooms provide ample space for guest relaxation. Between the sumptuous Georgian room, the character-filled Stopford Room, the spacious Print Rooms, the cosy Library and the light-filled conservatory overlooking the flower-laden gardens, the visitor to Marlfield House is quite literally spoiled for choice. The house is set in 360 acres of flower gardens and woodland walks. With all its period wealth, Marlfield House provides an especially romantic getaway experience. The grounds also feature a croquet lawn and tennis club.
The kitchen garden provides much of the fare for Marlfield's extensive menus. Fresh herbs, vegetables and fruit are gathered daily, while local produce such as wild salmon, spring lamb, oysters, mussels and beef are all abundantly used. The cuisine at Marlfield is classical with French and Mediterranean influences. The hotel is also fully licensed and features a select wine menu.
